Making the Heavenly Shea is surely a tedious process. No wonder the result is pure. See for yourselves!

LOOK AT THE PROCESS:

COLLECTION

The Shea Butter tree also known as Vitellaria
 paradoxa
grows only in Northern Uganda, and some parts of Southern Sudan. Inside the fruit sits the hard seed. From the seed, Shea Butter is extrated for cosmetics or even dietary consumption.
Collection and extraction is usually traditionally done by the women, but it is no longer rare to find men also partaking in this work.

After the gathering of the shea nuts, they are put out to dry in the sun for up to 4 days! Afterwards, the shea nut is cracked and the shea kernel is removed. The Shea kernel is again made to dry up to an extra couple of days

PROCESSING

If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen! The kernel of the shea nut is now being grinded by machines like these until it reaches a fine powder. This powder is combined with boiling water and placed in pressing plastic bags.

The plastic bags are then placed in pressing machines which yields the shea oil.

GRINDING

The liquid shea butter is then heated twice. The first heating purifies the butter and removes any impurities, such as ground nuts which may have seeped through the bags. The second boiling evaporates any remaining water, leaving nothing but pure shea behind. The shea is poured into buckets while still warm. As it cools it becomes more firm and is ready for incorporation into a variety of different personal care products.
